Online shoppers to increase spending
Release date: 23 June 2008
Over 90pc of online shoppers intend to increase their frequency of online shopping throughout 2008, according to 3V Transaction Services. The 'virtual credit card' company said research it has conducted suggests that online shoppers intend to raise their average spend from E150 a year. With an estimated 200,000 customers, 3V's research highlighted that over 70pc of regular 3V customers indicated that they will be encouraging friends and family to use the voucher service in the future. Between 55pc - 60pc of those surveyed intend to reduce their use of credit and debit cards going forward in order to control spending habits. Security, spend control and simplicity continue to be the three principal reasons provided by consumers for using 3V Vouchers. With security issues continuing to impact on the online shopping environment, in particular the renewed focus around the lack of security code, e-commerce flag or authentication features on Laser Card transactions, 3V Transaction Services Ltd. is determined to continue to provide reassurance for Irish consumers. Commenting Kieron Guilfoyle, CEO of 3V Transaction Services, said, "These research results come as no surprise to us. With the economy slowing down consumers are beginning to place greater scrutiny on their spending habits. By completing their online transactions with 3V Vouchers, consumers are not only reducing the cost of charges incurred but they are also ensuring that they operate within a reasonable spend limit."
